  28. Someone recommended it to me (I forget who, but THANKS), and I've been
  29. trying to locate it ever since, with no luck.

  61.                         PAYLOAD STATUS REPORT: MISSION STS-32
  62.                         Prepared at 10:25 a.m. Nov. 24, 1989

  65.           STS-32 -- SYNCOM IV-05, LDEF Retrieval
  66.  
  67.                The SYNCOM satellite,  which was transferred to Pad  A  Nov.
  68.           21,  is  being  monitored and maintained in the Payload Changeout
  69.           Room.  No significant problems have been reported.  Ongoing Pad A
  70.           activities  are  not  affecting  SYNCOM's stability.  The payload
  71.           canister is scheduled to be moved after the Thanksgiving weekend.
  72.  
  73.                SYNCOM is the first payload to go to  the  newly-refurbished
  74.           Pad A,  which was last used in January,  1986. It is scheduled to
  75.           be installed in Columbia's payload bay the end of next week.
  76.  
  77.                The Long Duration Exposure  Facility  (LDEF)  cradle,  which
  78.           will  be used for down processing upon the spacecraft's return to
  79.           KSC after STS-32, is in Hangar AO on the Cape Canaveral Air Force
  80.           Station.  Over the next few  weeks,  processing  will  move  into
  81.           "Phase 2" of processing activities for this unique mission, which
  82.           requires support for both a payload to be deployed and the return
  83.           of  LDEF.  The  team  will begin implementation of procedures for
  84.           LDEF's processing and de-integration at KSC.  This work will  in-
  85.           volve  operations in the Orbiter Processing Facility,  the Opera-
  86.           tions and Checkout (O & C) Building,  and the Spacecraft Assembly
  87.           and Encapsulation Facility (SAEF) No. 2.

  100. The insane 20kHz power supply has been scrapped (finally!) in favor of
  101. plain old DC (why not 400Hz AC??) as part of the latest round of cuts.
  102. Now this is one cut I approve of...

  104. Of course, it still won't be possible to use standard lab equipment on
  105. the "international" space station -- it doesn't cost enough.
